Truck Compliance Checklist & Support

Your compliance requirements depend on your vehicles, operating authority, cargo, routes, and drivers. Use this planning checklist to organize questions for your operation.

Starting or changing your business

  • Review the registrations and operating authority applicable to your operation.
  • Keep business and contact information accurate in the appropriate agency systems.
  • Identify driver qualification, vehicle, insurance, and recordkeeping requirements.

Drug and alcohol program

For covered CDL operations, review consortium enrollment and Clearinghouse requirements. Maintain the required consent and testing records and confirm coverage for each driver.

Quarterly and annual paperwork

Organize fuel and mileage records for IFTA reporting, and check annual UCR registration when applicable. Review other filings, including HVUT, based on your operation.

Keep a working compliance calendar

  • Record each applicable due date and the person responsible.
  • Gather supporting records before the filing period closes.
  • Keep filing confirmations, payment receipts, and provider agreements.
  • Review changes whenever vehicles, drivers, or operations change.
